
sewing machine troubles, please help!!?
i have an elna contessa 415 eletric sewing machine. everytime i try and sew anything (regardless of thread, or material) the top thread snaps and when i take away the material, there is reams of the top thread underneath. please help! any suggestions welcome.

You most likely have the tension too tight.
When the problem appears on the 'underneath' of the fabric, then the problem is 'on top' the way you thread the machine. Usually you put the spool of thread onto a holder, then through a guide, and then a tension ring, try unscrewing it a little to let the thread run through it more freely else your cotton will snap. Try getting out the manual of the book to see what the tension ring looks like. If you can't find your manual, upload it here for free

If the thread starts to go 'loopy' on top of the fabric, then it's trouble with the bobbin not been put in the shuttle properly
