How to sew two different weight/stretch fabrics together?
I'm using a Janome 'Quilter's Companion' and I'm trying to sew together a light jacquard and a velvet; a light jacquard and a stretch velvet; and a satin and a velvet. When I start to sew, the machine makes a grinding noise and the thread looks like it's been sucked down into the bobbin. I'm using a size 11 (blue tipped) needle, polyester thread and have tried adjusting the bobbin tension, thread tension, stitch length.... there are just too many parameters and I need some help!
Stop messing with your tension. Set everything back to normal. Make sure you have the bobbin wound and in the bobbin case correctly, make sure you have threaded the top thread correctly. Make sure the pressure foot is up when you thread the machine.
Pull both the upper and bobbin thread back behind your needle. Hold on to these "tails" for your first several stitches.
when ever you are having trouble, the first thing you should do is re thread everything.
